On Wednesday 2nd November Premier judge Steve Carroll ARPS, a member of Maidstone Camera Club and of the KCPA, was the judge for our 2nd PDI Competition. With over 70 images it was a full evening – good that so many APS members enter the league competitions. Steve said they were all very strong images but overall, in all divisions, he didn’t like anything that was light enough to distract him from the main point of the image. Anything ‘overly bright’ needed to be toned down, and this he freely admitted was his theme for the evening’s judging. He was lavish in his praise for Division 1 entries but even here there was room for areas to be toned down. His chosen images were:
Division 1: 1st Philip Hinton with Welcome to Your Nightmare, 2nd Anthony Wright with Great Tit (Parus major), 3rd Stephen Cheek with Inquisitive Youngsters.

Division 2: 1st Sean Harding with Kate, 2nd Graeme Andrews with What Do They Know, 3rd Michael Pepper with Boys’ Toys at the Steam Fair.

Division 3: 1st Avril Christensen with It’s All About the Stripes, 2nd Spencer Stone with Long Exposure macro study of a plasma ball, 3rd Karen Saunders with Onions Drying.

Our next meeting will be on Friday 11th November when we will hold a Special General Meeting at the very beginning of the evening, and then follow this with Wonky Horizons, when Anthony Baines ARPS CPAGB, Philip Hinton ARPS and Martin Till LRPS will be delighting us with their adventures in photography.
