A good evening at APS on Friday 9th December when our third PDI competition was judged by Andy Smith LRPS CPAGB of Crayford Camera Club. Andy is a judge with a lively imagination, looking for stories and meaning, wondering how we should feel on looking at an image. He found much to enjoy in our photography and his only real criticism was where he felt extra cropping, sometimes down to quite a narrow letterbox format, would improve an image. He made an interesting comment that placing an image ‘bang in the middle slows things down’. Out of a fair number of high quality images he chose the following:
Division 1: 1st Garry Shorter with Roll of the Dice, 2nd Neville Marsh with Ruddy Darter, 3rd Sue Chapman with Help Which Way Please.
Help Which Way Please by Sue Chapman
Division 2: 1st David Horwood with Blue Water, 2nd Maria O’Connell with Boom, 3rd Kyle Tallett with Wedding in Oia.
Blue Water by David Horwood
Division 3: 1st Neil French with In Memoriam Auschwitz, 2nd Phil Drury with Sunbeams on a Cloudy Day, Dingle Peninsula, 3rd Eniko Zsombok with The One WTC.
Sunbeams on a Cloudy Day, Dingle Peninsula by Phil Drury
The Small Print Competition results were as follows:
1st Round: 1st Peter Skynner with Passing Keys, 2nd Peter Skynner with Nuthatch, 3rd Peter Skynner with Three Hefers.
