On Friday 9th January Cherry Larcombe ARPS DPAGB BPE3* EFIAP (a member of Isle of Thanet Photographic Society) showed us her Creative Flower Photography.
Cherry uses her camera as an artist would use a brush, creating delicate pastel macro images carefully positioned within the frame. Explaining her approach we learned that a black sack is essential for outdoor photography to get down to the level of even the smallest of flowers, and scissors to trim stray intruding grasses – indoor photography, using natural light only, involves beautiful coloured glass vases and bluetac, and the occasional use of a microfleur flower press (find them on the web). Textures were sometimes added to enhance the beauty of the image (but nothing imported), and Cherry showed us how this is easily done with Photoshop. Check her website at www.cherryannette.com to see for yourself. Another inspiring evening at APS.
Next Friday, 16th January, Ray Bridges LRPS CPAGB ADPS BPE3* will be judging our 4th PDI competition, and entries must be handed in for our 3rd Print competition.
