On Friday 12th May 17, Ray Bridges LRPS CPAGB ADPS BPE3* of Maidstone and Tenterden Camera Clubs judged our Annual Exhibition, the final competition of this season when we put our best of the season on display. Because of the very high quality of all images entered, Ray had to be quite critical when commenting, looking for reasons to choose between the good and the very good, pointing out areas where he would have done things differently had he been the photographer. He was looking for creativity, mood, atmosphere and a story, questioning what was happening, and how people were involved, and always stressing that when choosing from such strong images it was sometimes down to the judges own personal preference. When commenting upon Stephen Creek’s winning image he said it had been captured at just the right moment, was full of atmosphere, and was just a superb picture – one of the best he had ever seen of animal behaviour. Overall, he said, it was a wonderful collection of work.
Premier Award: Stephen Cheek with Crossing The Mara.
Highly Commended: Anthony Wright with Selfie, Kyle Tallett with The Girl I Left Behind, Anthony Wright with A Grandma, Avril Christensen with Boating Pool Sunset, Martin Till with Kingfisher Disabling Its Catch.
